USHERING
– Volunteer ushers are needed for every performance of East
West Players mainstage shows. Responsibilities include stuffing inserts
into programs, helping patrons to their seats, and cleaning up after
the show, among others. Volunteers get to see the show the day they
usher. The production schedule varies but performance times are Thursday-Saturday
@ 8 pm, Saturday & Sunday @ 2 pm. Ushers are expected at the theater
one hour before show time.
SPECIAL
EVENTS – Volunteers are needed for the special fundraising
events that East West Players holds throughout the year. The two main
events are the One Night Only held at East West Players in August
and the Anniversary Dinner held at a hotel in April. During these
events, volunteers will be assigned to specific areas of responsibility
including, but not limited to, the silent auction, raffle, ushering,
check-in, set-up, clean-up, table monitoring and VIP escorts.
ADMINISTRATION
– Volunteers are needed on a regular basis in the East West
Players administrative office. Tasks could include data entry, filing
and organizing, answering the phone, and research for marketing, grants
and arts education departments. People interested in volunteering
in the office should have an interest in arts administration and have
experience working in an administrative environment.
PRODUCTION
– Volunteers are needed to help with various aspects of mounting
a production. Tasks could include set construction, hanging lights,
costume repair and alterations, and other backstage work. People interested
in volunteering with the productions should have an interest in theater
arts and experience in carpentry, electrics, sewing, etc.
GENERAL
MAINTENANCE – Volunteers are needed to help with the
general maintenance of East West Players’ theater and warehouse.
Tasks could include making minor repairs, cleaning, and organizing
props, furniture and costumes.
