Board Profile PAUL TANAKA Paul K. Tanaka is the Assistant Sheriff of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. As one of two Assistant Sheriffs, he oversees the Department’s Administrative Services and Detective Divisions and three patrol regions. In addition, Paul was elected Mayor of the City of Gardena in March 2005 after serving six years as a city councilman, and has been a CPA for over 20 years. He is also on the Board of Directors of the Harriet Buhai Center for Family Law. Theater is Paul’s great passion and says that sitting on the EWP Board is a great honor and pleasure.
